Airkix Take Two
It was one of the things that led Ben to declare that 2012 was his "best year ever"
Two years later we had our second go
{or rather Megs and Ben did - the prices are rather eye watering and so Al and I decided that we would keep our feet on the ground this time}
Both Megs and Ben were fantastic - they remembered the skills they learnt last time and moved on to higher level stuff - I don't think this will be the last time they fly!

On Parade on Father's Day
Megs and Ben were both on Parade with Scouts/Explorers -
The annual Chester Parade for Chesire Scouts.
This year - no rain!
There was a pretty hopeless turn out from some schout groups - ours included -
which made me sad. The excuse was that it was Father's Day. But surely spending an afternoon proudly watching your children on parade is good way for Father's to celebrate?

Random Saturday Happenings
Morning at Church for the Sankey Valley Methodist Circuit event
{all the churches had their own display}
We nipped out for a couple of hours to visit the newly reopened butterfly house -
Al wanted to try out his macro lens taking photographs.
Then it was back to church for the end of the event and Worship,
before we went to Liverpool to meet up with Jamie and Megs.
Tea in GBK,

Tea in GBK,
then a walk around the waterfront -
it was the Mersey River Festival and there were tall ships in the the docks :)
When we got to the carpark we discovered 2 fire engines, lots of fire men and smoke!
They were trying to track down the fire in the underground area,
so we had to wait it out until they gave the all clear!

And left school.

World Cup Fever
Not here, obviously.
Of course Al does like football - though he's not a fanatic.
Benjamin thinks that football is a pointless waste of time
{though he is actually getting better at playing in goal at school}
Megs and I are both pretty much of a mind that the world
would be a better place without football.
But across the road....
.... it's like living opposite the pub landlord!
{though without the irony}

A Southwalk Evening Stroll
I had this vision -
Of walking along the Thames as the sun set.
Clarence Darrow was over by 8 o'clock,
so we bought sandwiches from the little Sainsburys on The Cut
and coffee from a little deli behind Tate Modern
and sat in the sun and ate looking across the river to St Paul's.
Then we walked slowly along the river, all the way to Tower Bridge,
as the sun set, and the air cooled.
There were crowds everywhere - and it was heaven.

By the time we got to Tower Hill we were ready for bed - so we tubed it back to our hotel
{Holiday Inn Express Southwalk}
Perfect end to a great day.
