We stopped Saturday night in the rather lovely new Premier Inn in Witney -
then spent Sunday wandering around Oxford -
visiting old favourites.
There were a LOT of tourists around -
so we had no qualms photographing!
From Norham Gardens and through the park -
past the former Earth Science building and the Natural History Museum -
a stop at Blackwell's for coffee
{there's now a Cafe Nero on the first floor!}
past the Sheldonian and the Bodleian
along Queens Lane and to Teddy Hall.
I'd had an email saying that the Front Quad was closed due to building work
{new utilities and relaying flagstones apparently}
and yes, it did look like a bomb site,
but a lovely porter gave us the key to the graveyard -
and so we had a beautiful, peaceful hour by St Peter-in-the-East.
We trekked up the High - calling in at the Radcliffe Camera on the way.
After a stop at GBK for an early tea -
we retreated back to the parks for some classic
"lying under a tree reading" time.
We finished the afternoon driving round to St Aldates
so that we could leave Megs at Pembroke College -
she's there all week on an access course.
Leaving her there as we drove away was the weirdest feeling -
she's pretty much settled that she doesn't want to study in Oxford
{Warwick is the current favourite choice}
but I hope she has a great time this week!
