His first half term....

.... at High School is over -

 and after all the years I've spent worrying about this huge move,

it's all gone remarkably well!

He's got a laptop for recording in lessons -
 a social language programme before school -
time to access his Nessie programme -
support in most subjects -
 games club on Thursday lunch -
lego club starting on Wednesday lunch
(he's picked the lego and designed the invitations)-
basketball and science after school clubs...
and I have pretty much all his teachers on board with the emailing of homework.

He's making his way into and out of school by himself
{he uses the office door}
He's happy to go to the canteen and the library if he's at a loose end.

At parents evening this week everyone was delighted with the way he's settled into the routine.

"He's just Ben" says his Form Tutor -

and the Senco reported that last week one of her LSA's said
"If you depressed when you arrived at school, you would soon be smiling with Ben around"

Of course there have been a few hiccups -

I've had to have a couple of little meetings to make sure that everyone was on board

the other children in his social language group are rubbish at actually turning up
{as a teacher it's sadly no surprise to me that some parents can't be bothered to take advantage of this great provision - their children could really benefit from Ben's funding} -

literacy interventions need to be stepped up
{there will be more 1:1 tutoring after half term}

and I'm sure that there will be more bumps on the road...

 but for now we declare the first half term a success!
