The coldest, wettest....

St Georges Day Parade yet.

{Photo taken BEFORE the rain started}

We've been on some wet parades in the past -
like Chester 2011, 2009 and St Georges Day 2008 -

But this was also so cold - and getting all the children soaked after they'd sat in the cold at the Stobart Stadium for nearly two hours was just pointless

This week - Liverpool Times Three

On Thursday with Al - checking out the route for my "Pirates Ahoy" school trip

On Friday - with 32 children, 5 staff, and 7 parents -
meeting pirates and enjoying the sun {and wind} at the Pier Head.

On Saturday - tea at Cafe Rouge - then Iron Man 3 at the IMAX
{it left Megs speechless "I can't even deal"}

Walking in though the daffodils

A Saturday morning at Sefton Park - walking through the Marie Curie Field of Hope-
nearly the end of April - but Spring is really here at last!

Easter Holidays - Bonus Week!

Even though I was back at school on the 15th April - the children had some extra time at home.

Their High School moved to a brand new building over Easter -
so there was a phased return after the holidays.

Megs went back on the Wednesday -
when Ben had a tour along with a couple of other ASD boys.

{The new school building is just amazing - all glass and clever design}

Ben was still off on Thursday -
so I had a friend along as I did my "day off" errands

He finally started in the new building on Friday -
the summer term has really begun!

Spring At last?

Now the daffodils are finally out -
as is the cherry blossom.

Today was the first day of the summer term-
girls in their gingham dresses and boys in shorts.

The children played on the school field -
coats abandoned.

It was warm and it was lovely.

And perhaps this long, long winter is finally over.

This post was meant to be about Dragon Boating

We were at the meadow on the River Dee at 9.30am -
ready for Ben's day Dragon Boating with Scouts....

but the wind was so fierce, the river was too rough for the children to go out
so we had a morning mooching around Chester
{and the shops} instead.

Chester Zoo - April 2013

Saturday at Chester Zoo -
we got there for a ten o'clock start -
and saw lots before it got busy
{including the gorgeous baby giraffe!}

an evening at the bingo with old friends {me only}

and a day trip by train to Liverpool.

Our portrait by Ashmae

I've long admired Ashmae's portraits -
when I saw that she was back taking custom orders after Christmas
 I took the chance to order ours.

This is the copy she emailed me to check -
the finished watercolour has Megan's hair a little longer, and my hair is a bit darker.

I love it.
